In the version for Doom + Doom II, this level uses an untitled intermission theme by Robert Prince, from Doom II, as its music track.

This level was later ported to PlayStation Final Doom as MAP01: Attack.

Walkthrough[edit]

Letters in italics refer to marked spots on the map. Sector, thing, and linedef numbers in boldface are secrets which count toward the end-of-level tally.

Essentials[edit]

Go through the doorway in front of you to enter a hall with zombies, then activate the lift at the north end of the room to get an armor. Open either door to the east and west of the lift to enter a corridor with one or more demons, then open the door at the north end of the corridor to enter the room with the red keycard, which is at the top of the northern steps next to a plasma gun. Leave the room through the south-west door to enter the corridor with the red door, pass through it then go into the brick structure in the middle of the room to find the blue keycard—taking it opens four alcoves containing imps (or imps and chaingunners on Ultra-Violence and Nightmare skill levels).

Go to the corridor south-east of the red key room and open the blue door here to face one or two chaingunners (plus a pain elemental on Hurt Me Plenty or higher), then go into the building ahead to get the yellow keycard. Open the brown bars behind the key and step on the lift behind them to go to the floor below, then head south and west past two zombiemen/demons to reach a teleporter. Enter the teleporter to go to the northern courtyard, go west to a building with a yellow door and open it to see (depending on skill level) a shotgun guy, chaingunner or Hell knight guarding the exit switch.

Other points of interest[edit]

The room north-west of the starting point contains two pairs of light poles. Walking through them will open a closet with imps, two stimpacks and a chaingun.

A super shotgun can be found at the bottom of the steps near the lift with the armor.

In the yellow key building, look behind the column in the south-west corner to find a rocket launcher.

Secrets[edit]

Official[edit]

  1. Entering the yellow key building will open a teleporter in the room north-west of the starting point. The space directly south of it counts as a secret. (sector 254)

Non-official[edit]

  • Go to the teleporter beneath the yellow key building, then look behind the metal structure north of it to find a megaarmor.

Bugs[edit]

Opening either descending door to the middle water area (sectors 131 and 134), riding one of those doors up when it ascends, then dropping into one of the small walled-off areas to the south (sectors 73 and 78) will result in the player being stuck.
